After attending a Landmark Education seminar, Christy Fair was inspired to create a community project. Having begun a personal adventure in which she was overcoming her fears, she wanted to continue this trend, while inspiring and helping others.
She researched different options, and when she came upon a way to skydive and raise money for MS, while inspiring a team of people, she knew that she had found her project. She named the team, “Jumping Into Life - Being Fearless in the Face of Certain Uncertainty.”
With the help of her friends, family, and community, Christy put together the Jumping Into Life team of ten. The team includes Christy Fair, Cliff Guy, Lisa Ma, Kimberly Blaine, Alma Salazar, and Dayna Troy. Each person has committed to raising a minimum of $500, although each has a goal of $750. The funds raised will go to the MS Society. “This project is inspired by the birth of Lauren Steel,” says Christy, “her father has MS, and despite this challenge, he and his wife have chosen to bring a new life into this world. I can’t think of a more fearless challenge or worthy cause.” Lauren was still in utero when Christy began her planning, and was born on July 2nd, 2009.
The team’s cause does not start and end with the raising of money. Their kick-off event will take place on July 17th, from 8pm to close at Mickie Finnz (www.mickiefinnz.com)
These jump shots remind each of us to jump in with both feet, and face our fears – a concept the team will take literally at the conclusion of the project. On July 26th, after each member of the team reaches their goal, they will participate in a tandem skydive jump to celebrate. Christy says, “I am convinced there will be a cure for MS in my lifetime. I’m so honored to be able to help, and to be facing one of my own fears in the process.”
