URBANA, IL – Kirk Moberg, MD, PhD, chief medical officer of Carle Clinic, is among the first physicians in the U.S. certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), a new independent medical specialty board. Before the inception of the ABAM, the only addiction-related board certification available was for psychiatrists. The ABAM now certifies addiction medicine physicians from several specialties, setting standards for physician education and knowledge. Dr. Moberg passed a rigorous exam and will participate in continuing education to maintain board certification.
Dr. Moberg joined Carle Clinic in 1994, specializing in addiction medicine at Carle Addiction Recovery Center (CARC). He now serves as medical director of CARC and chief medical officer of Carle Clinic. He was named a Fellow by the American College of Physician Executives in 2008.
