Galliford Try, the principal contractor to the All-England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), chooses Asta Powerproject to help manage many of its major projects, including the recent construction of the new retractable roof at Wimbledon Centre Court.

The work on Centre Court is part of a long-term development plan for Galliford Try at the AELTC. In 1994 Galliford Try introduced the use of Asta Powerproject, professional project management software designed specifically for the construction industry, and has been using the software in its various versions since.

The 2009 Championship will see Centre Court with a larger capacity of 15,000 people, more comfortable seating and the retractable roof over the court.

The roof is designed to provide a consistent and safe playing environment and is of translucent construction to allow natural light to reach the grass.  The roof offers protection to the grass under all adverse weather conditions.  It will be closed primarily to protect play from inclement or extremely hot weather during The Championship.

Galliford Try project director Mike Bridges said: “Our on-site planners use Asta Powerproject to develop concept programmes that enable us to work out how best to plan and execute the work. It also enables us to have a very clear understanding of what we are delivering. On a project like this where every year we need to make significant improvements to the club while ensuring that The Championship is not adversely affected by the building work, there is no room for delay or floats. Asta Powerproject helps us to ensure we deliver on schedule each year without fail."

Asta Development sales and marketing director Paul Bamforth said: “Asta Powerproject offers unrivalled accurate progress reporting and clearly monitors activities, resources and costs including Earned Value Analysis (EVA).  We are delighted to be recognised by Galliford Try for the support Asta Powerproject has provided in the complex management and planning of the ongoing development plan of the AELTC.”
