NHS Blood and Transplant has appointed digital PR and social media specialist Headstream to handle its latest campaign, the Wall of Life. Following a competitive pitch, Headstream will be responsible for all digital PR and social media engagement to promote the online application www.walloflife.org.uk.
The Wall of Life website shows the image of toddler Louisa McGregor-Smith, who received a life-saving heart transplant in 2007 when she was just 5 months old. Louisa’
The campaign invites organ donation supporters to join the NHS Organ Donor Register and upload their photo and a personal comment to the site to publicly demonstrate their support. The photos help populate Louisa’s image and build the Wall of Life, while urging supporters to spread the message about organ donation to their friends and families through popular online networks. In this way www.walloflife.org.uk celebrates and thanks everyone who wants to give transplant patients like Louisa the chance of life.
Ashley Clouder, Account Manager at Headstream, said: "To be given the opportunity to work on such an important national campaign is both really exciting and rewarding.”
Maxine Walter, Head of Media and PR at NHS Blood and Transplant adds: “We are delighted to be working with Headstream on this innovative campaign. With more than 10,000 people in the UK currently needing an organ transplant the Wall of Life is extremely important in encouraging people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register and discuss their wishes with family and friends.”
Headstream's relationship with NHS Blood and Transplant goes back to 2005, when the agency developed a successful online game to support a national tour of university Freshers’ Fairs to help increase sign-ups to the Organ Donor Register.
Headstream’s other clients include Paramount Pictures, L’Oreal and Samsung.
