Atlona Releases 3GSDI Video Fiber Optic Extenders For Pro Install, Medical, and Government Markets

Atlona Technologies is releasing a new line of video extenders  that  transfer high definition video over multi-mode, Optical type, fiber optic cable up to 1000 ft without any signal loss. These new extenders serve not only as a way for companies to send video signal far beyond the lengths of actual cables, but also provide a measure of security due to its use of Fiber Optic cable. Since Fiber Optic cable is immune to interference caused by electromagnetic fields (EMF/EMI), these extenders are perfect for medical imaging applications where a perfect picture is not only ideal, but necessary.

   Atlona’s HDSDI version, model AT-3GSDI20SR,  is capable of sending 3G SDI signals, and is  one of the world’s smallest 3G/HD-SDI baluns. This UL/CE approved unit allows users to transfer 1080P HDSDI signal at 3Gb/s, supporting a single channel SMPTE-424M 3G HD-SDI, SMPTE-292M HD or SMPTE-259M se¬rial digital video signal, over single or multi mode fiber. This feature rich extender requires no adjustments from users, making setup quick and painless. The AT-3GSDI20SR supports a wide variety of video formats including SDI, DVB-ASI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI. This balun connects to inputs through a BNC type connec¬tor, fiber is connected through ST-type fiber optic cable.
   Atlona’s new AT-3GSDI20SR is expected to start shipping by July 7, 2009 with an MSRP of $1799.00.
