ProtectNetwork is an outsourced enterprise identity service on the Internet. Enterprise applications, websites and SaaS applications use ProtectNetwork as a source of secure and trusted user authentication for their users. ProtectNetwork is open standards based and is compatible with SAML 2, SAML 1.1, Shibboleth v1.3+, Shibboleth v2.0+ and OpenID single sign-on security standards.
With the release of these new features next month, Website administrators and Enterprise Identity Administrators (also called Sponsors) will be able to provision and sponsor their Users (Employees, Partners, Customers, Contractors and Guests) into ProtectNetwork with ease and flexibility.
The newly upgraded Enterprise ID Administration capability will enable Shibboleth and SAML enabled websites as well as Campus/Enterprise administrators (Sponsors) to provision their users and assign them with specific Group and Role information. In addition, Sponsors will be able to assign their users with specific application grants and privileges. Such user information can then be released as SAML user attributes to trusted websites and applications that accept secure ProtectNetwork logins.
These new set of features in ProtectNetwork will enable Sponsors to enables access for their users to applications such as Google Apps, Apple Itunes and other SAML enabled applications and services on the Internet or within their own Campus/Enterprise. Such applications typically rely on user information such Group, Role and Entitlements before granting secure access to users.
