New York, NY - According to George Williams, a current entrepreneur, most people are afraid to make decisions. A study showed that the amount of stress a person has when making a decision is equivalent to getting a shot. Leaders give their followers authority to act even before they seem ready to act. This leaves margin for two things to happen. Uncertain about what the followers did, a leader just sits back and sees what the follower chose to do. Two things either happen. The person had either had so much responsibility with authority they simply did nothing, or the person took the authority that was given to them and acted on it. Action equals success. When asked about taking action, George responded:

“People who don’t take action are usually challenged mentally. Their faith is challenged, their belief is challenged, and their vision is challenged. A person must create their own success when they are given an opportunity. It is never the duty of a leader to struggle for someone else, meaning a person has to find their own way to success. If they are spoon fed, they will never learn. A leader is not much of a leader if they are doing the work for the people that follow them. Guide them yes, but they must allow the person to fight their own battles. That is the only way they will be on the path to leadership themselves.”

A leader must encourage others to struggle and ensure them that their struggles are worthwhile. If people do battles with the challenges of their present and they will unlock the prizes of their future. By giving people authority to act, they will become more reliable, efficient, and proficient. There is too much for a leader to do by themselves. They need people to help them. Leaders not only give their followers authority, but they give them clear instructions on what to do with that authority.

George also said that, “Assignment of authority requires a tremendous amount of trust. There are so many confused people in the world today, and that is a result of a big number of fearful leaders. If leaders operate out of fear, they cannot pass on instruction. A leader who does not instruct will end up with a bunch of unknowledgeable followers that will ultimately lead to his or her fall.”

Leaders must share information and the ensuing authority that comes along with it. This way they can empower others do the right thing in ways that will offer fulfillment not only on an individual level but on a global basis as well. To grant authority is to leverage one’s gift. Everybody has something unique to offer.
