New Cure For Atopic Dermatitis By Adult Stem Cell Therapy

Patient’s own fat-derived stem cell cured severe atopic syndrome

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 15, 2009 – RNL Joyang Regenerative Medical Clinic located in Yanji, China announced on June 4th that severe atopic patient was successfully treated for the first time in the world.

Pulme Lee, a 19 years old girl, had been suffered from serious atopic eczema for the past seven years. Her condition returned back to almost normal after she travelled to Yanji, China to receive stem cell transplant prepared from her own fat-tissue at RNL Joyang Regenerative Medical Clinic.

Atopic dermatitis began to affect her when she was in fifth grade. As a young girl, broad range of dermatitis was unbearable pain. Her parents decided to give their daughter a stem cell therapy to relieve her suffering. Her fat tissue was harvested by a dermatologist office in Korea in Jan 2009. Expanded stem cells originated from her own tissue were transplanted intravenously into her body in Feb and Apr 2009. After 10 days post transfusion, her condition surprisingly improved and itching was remarkably diminished even without medication and humectants.

Her dermatologist, Dr. Kiwan Park, who is a medical director in Bethesda Dermatology Clinic, said “After stem cell transfusion, eczema disappeared and rashes are not detected. She doesn’t need any humectants and is free of atopic condition now. According to the blood test, inflammation indicators such as INF-γ, TNF-α, IL-6 index and blood IgE, Eosinophil level were dramatically decreased. We can say fat-derived stem cells have a prominent effect on atopic condition through immune modulation.”

Lee once considered leaving her school when she was 10th grade due to her relentless condition of itching and pains. After stem cell therapy, she said “I am so happy now to be able to hang around in short sleeved shirts and to enjoy even ocean swimming.”

Dr. Jeong Chan Ra, the founder and CEO of RNL BIO, said “We identified the obvious therapeutic effect of autologous fat-derived stem cells on atopic dermatitis. We also plan to file an IND of a human trial for atopic condition in South Korea and to publish our clinical result in medical journals and conference as well.”
