Practical Nursing Diploma Program Now Offered at Dade Medical College

July 15, 2009 - PRLog -- Miami, FL – Dade Medical College recently received final approval from the Florida Board of Nursing to commence a new Practical Nursing Diploma program and plans are in place to begin on August 10, 2009 at the school’s Hialeah Campus (2750 W 68th Street, Hialeah, FL 33016).

“We are very proud and excited to now be able to offer students training in this realm of the medical field,” says school CEO Ernesto Perez. “The profession of nursing is very vigorous and demanding and Dade Medical College will thus be screening applicants accordingly.”

All prospective PN students must pass an entrance exam and be interviewed by incoming Program Director Sharon Rodriguez, RN, MSN Ed, LHRM. A command of the English language is required. The new program comprises 92.5 quarter credits, is about 70 weeks in length and aims to prepare students to pass the licensing examination (NCLEX) administered by the Florida Board of Nursing.

Dade Medical College’s Practical Nursing program is committed to becoming a program of excellence within the State of Florida. Students will work in partnership with faculty to acquire the essential skills needed to successfully gain licensure and practice as safe, competent and productive professionals. Through cooperative team efforts, graduate practical nurses will be prepared for an entry-level nursing position, demonstrate measures that ensure the safe practice of nursing, show sensitivity to cultural diversity and both practice and promote health habits that contribute to total wellness and high-quality life styles.

Dade Medical College was founded in 1999 as a vocational medical institute teaching diagnostic ultrasound. The main campus is located at 3721 NW 7th Street, Miami, FL 33126 and like the Hialeah campus (built in 2007, located at 2750 W 68th Street, Suite 202, Hialeah, FL 33016) additionally offers diplomas and or Associate of Science degrees. Dade Medical College’s Miami Campus recently completed an expansion featuring about 10,000 new square feet of classroom, laboratory, library and office space. The Hialeah Campus recently augmented in total size to 22,000 square feet, including a new library and cafeteria. Construction is now near completion on a third campus in Homestead, which will house approximately 10,500 square feet and begin enrolling students on or around July 21, 2009. Also, plans are in the works for a 15,000 square foot Hollywood (FL) Campus set to open by spring 2010, which would bring Dade Medical College’s total square footage to more than 66,000.
