A new partnership has been announced between Nauticalia and Beken of Cowes, whereby Nauticalia are to publish the world-famous Beken range of calendars.
Nauticalia will take over production, marketing, and distribution to offer the range to a wider audience – in particular the relatively untapped High Street gift market – whilst Beken concentrate on what they know best – taking spectacular photos of yachts, boats and ships.
The Beken Calendars, now in their 38th edition, have been published annually since 1973, and remain high on every boating enthusiast’s Christmas wish list. Beken have an unrivalled and ever-expanding archive of marine photography, having been in the business since 1888. This is drawn upon most notably in the sepia-toned “Classic” edition, where it is difficult not to be enthralled by, for example, an early shot of a J-class under full sail, with her impossibly long boom and seemingly countless crew.

The Beken Calendars for 2010 will be the first to benefit from the new partnership, available from October 2009 and retailing at around £15.
Nauticalia has been in the boating-themed gift and practical accessories market since 1974, promoting British Maritime History to the general public via their shops, mail order catalogue and website. B
y happy coincidence, at the same time as partnering with Beken, they are opening their tenth shop – at 15 High Street, Cowes. The new shop, opening 10 July, stocks everything from brass clocks and barometers to Swedish windproof sweaters (perfect for that stroll along the breezy promenade). Naturally the display will also include Beken calendars.
