Dr. Apovian serves on the Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety and Medical Error Reduction Expert Panel on Weight Loss Surgery for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Dr. Carol Apovian is the Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine; Director, Nutrition and Weight Management Center at Boston Medical Center; Director, Clinical Research at the Obesity Research Center of Boston Medical Center.

Special Guest: Dr. Silva Arslanian, a a pediatric endocrinologist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for more than 20 years, is an internationally recognized expert in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes in youth, obesity, insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome and metabolic syndrome in childhood, Dr. Arslanian has traveled throughout the world educating and lecturing other scientists and clinicians.Dr. Arslanian is the Richard L. Day Endowed Professor of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  She is the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, the principal investigator of the NIH-funded Diabetes Fellowship Training (T32) and Pediatric Diabetes Scholars Program (K12), and Director of Children’s Hospital’s Weight Management & Wellness Center.
