IIMSAM attains new height with Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahim's generosity

With the help of Ambassador Al Fahim’s generous contribution, IIMSAM has initiated few other welfare programmes for the poor and children affected with malnutrition.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 15, 2009 – Abu Dhabi: The Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), the Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council was in  Africa’s media headlines recently, thanks to the generosity of its Ambassador-at Large Sulaiman Al Fahim.

Al Fahim who is an Abu- Dhabi- based one of the prominent business personalities of the Middle East while holding a number of business and social responsibilities across the world runs a number of business activities in the UAE and abroad.

He ventured into the world of philanthropy at a very early age by creating Sulaiman Al Fahim group that supports education and sports. Dr. Al- Fahim envisions a global society where humanity is adequately and healthily nourished, where severe malnutrition is completely eradicated, and where everyone - children and adult, man and woman - is capable of fully exercising his right to health, education, equality, and protection.

The New York- based organization dealing with malnutrition and world hunger has recently taken a number of measures through its ‘Camp Maradona’ programme to help eradicate malnutrition and create sports awareness among poor youths. A high group of IIMSAM’s officials led by its Director- General Remigio Maradona visited a number of African countries to initiate various humanitarian programmes there.

With the help of Ambassador Al Fahim’s generous contribution, IIMSAM has initiated few other welfare programmes for the poor and children affected with malnutrition. During IIMSAM’s official trip to Kenya the mentioned programme, Camp Maradona, was launched at Kogelo located near Kenya- Uganda boarder.

The project is already benefiting Senator Obama Secondary School, Agoro Secondary School, Diboro Secondary School, Nyangoma Primary School, Golden Elite and other schools. The head quarter for Camp Maradona is located in Kisumu.

Ambassador Al Fahim played the very crucial role in this project sponsoring the entire programme. Sulaiman Al- Fahim, gave football equipments to the secondary and primary schools in Kogelo, a historical village. Kogelo is the village where grandmother of the president of the United States, Mr. Obama resides.

With the financial supports of IIMSAM’s Ambassador at-large Sulaiman Al-Fahim, IIMSAM was able to distribute soccer shoes, balls, goalkeeper gloves and pumps to various teams under the initiated Camp Maradona Programme. This is being considered as a big boost to the teams and the community as most of the players, who were playing bare foot until few months before, now were happy and excited to receive the necessary apparatus facilitating them to upgrade and hone their sporting skills.

The dramatic change in sports of the region is apparent as school boys and girls are already having a fabulous experience of playing football, thanks to the efforts of Business Tycoon, Al Fahim.

When the Kenya Government recently announced a national emergency due to famine, IIMSAM with the generous support of Dr. Al Fahim launched a feeding outlet in Kisumu named “Dar Al Muamineen Centre”. IIMSAM’s headquarters in Kisumu feeds about 300 people daily who are served with Spirulina mixed porridge.

Besides, the initiatives taken globally, Al Fahim have spent a huge amount on building the infrastructures of IIMSAM including its headquarters in New York.

Speaking on an occasion, IIMSAM’s Director- General Remigio Maradona said, “My congratulations to Ambassador Sulaiman Al Fahim for putting incredible efforts in support for our organization's mandate to spread it across the Mid-East and Africa. As his selfless commitment to eradicate malnutrition is a significant step to realize the noble ambitions of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals; I extend again my deepest congratulations and gratitude for his noble endeavours."

He has many plans to support IIMSAM, spreading its mandate worldwide. Al Fahim has pledged that ‘Al Fahim Asia Associates’, his investment company will also contribute part of its profit from the investments to IIMSAM to fight malnutrition and (through "Camp Maradona") help provide education to children across the globe.

Ambassador Al-Fahim, a board member of Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) - the Middle Eastern group who bought out Manchester City in September founded Hydra Properties in 2005 promising 'to be different' - the policy paid off as his company signed $2billion worth of projects in the first two years to become one of the region's fastest growing property companies.

Al Fahim is a celebrity figure in the Arab World, climbing up 12 places on Arabian Power's list of the 100 Most Powerful Arabs this year securing 4th rank in the list this year.
A well- known businessman and philanthropist, Al Fahim has bagged dozens of awards, including the prestigious ‘CEO Middle East Award for International Achievement’ last year.
His reality television show ‘The Hydra Executives’, which pitches Americans against Britons in the UAE’s real estate market, is currently topping local television rating points (TRPs).

Besides, Al Fahim is the honorary chairman of the Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Organization (IREO), a body aimed at finding out the best scientists and companies working in the industry and to promote renewable energy projects and technologies worldwide.
