KCFitnessLink to Promote Yoga Certification and Health Employment during Yoga Month 09

KCFitnesslink will offer a special by donation registration during Yoga Month 09 to promote yoga and health-related employment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 14, 2009 – Kansas City residents and businesses can attend free yoga classes, workshops and more during Yoga Month, September 2009.  Yoga Month is a grassroots, community-based global campaign to educate people about the health benefits of yoga and to inspire a healthy lifestyle.  An estimated 20+ million will hear about Yoga Month and millions of new students will attend free yoga classes at 2,000+ yoga studios, parks and homes.

During Yoga Month 09, KCFitnessLink will focus on its 200 hour yoga teacher training program by offering a special by donation registration. This will make the training affordable and accessible to many more people.  Registrants can simply choose how much they can afford for their training.  The training is a 200 hour yoga certification that is comprehensive covering anatomy, health and fitness, meditation, breathing, yoga postures, culture and philosophy and more.  The yoga teacher training is open to local residents and out of state residents as well. KCFitnessLink provides limited student housing for out of state residents.

The yoga teacher training course comes at a time when national unemployment is 9.5 percent and widespread job losses continue.   Despite major job sectors losing jobs, health related fields continue to add jobs even through the national and local job market is hurting, says director of programs Darryl Olive.  The demand for yoga and other types of complimentary healthcare services will continue to rise as individuals and employers look for alternatives to the high cost of conventional medicine.  Yoga when used as therapy is low-cost and can address the complexity of chronic conditions by addressing the whole person.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 36 percent of U.S. adults have used some form of complementary medicine like yoga, mostly to ease back, neck and other joint aches.  Yoga not only addresses physical ailments, but can improve one’s emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

KCFitnessLink, the provider of the training program, is one of the 47 member schools with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), a non-profit organization that supports research, membership and education standards for yoga therapists.  KCFitnessLink is also a registered yoga school at 200 and 500 hours with the Yoga Alliance, a non-profit organization that sets standards for yoga teachers and schools.
