Simple System For Challenging Requirements

ERICH JAEGER develops new lighting system for agricultural trailers

July 14, 2009 - PRLog -- The use of trailers in agriculture makes high demands on the electrical components of the vehicle: On the one hand, they must be extremely sturdy and durable; despite the harsh conditions on the field, the correct functionality of the lighting always has to be guaranteed – be it for the field or for road traffic. On the other hand, it is necessary that the components are easy to handle; in case of a damaged lamp or cable, the user has to be able to quickly exchange the broken part. In this way, he can avoid down-time of the vehicle due to longsome repairs. ERICH JAEGER has recognized this demand and started to develop a fitting product.
The result of the development is a lighting system for agricultural trailers combining high quality and easy handling. Including connectors, cables, and lamps, the system is ready for immediate operation. In the development, the company could draw upon expertise from manufacturing equipment that has been successfully applied in the commercial vehicle industry for a long time now: The dust- und splash-proof connector system Power Seal connects every component via a 3- or 4-pin plug thus enabling the installation without the help of any tools and a problem-free exchange of parts in case or a repair. Moreover, the lighting unit features a modular design: The customer may individually adapt it to the dimensions of his trailer or choose the applied lamps just as required.
The system is powered via a newly developed distribution box. The box is connected to the 7-pin socket of the towing vehicle by a connecting line with bayonet coupling. And once again, ERICH JAEGER took the demand for a simple system into consideration. For instance: A license plate lamp needs less power than a rear lamp. To avoid faulty connection, the company equipped the distribution box with 3- and 4-pin sockets, each customized to the lamp to be applied.
So every trailer manufacturer has the possibility to either arrange his individual system or to install a solution pre-assembled by ERICH JAEGER, as for example an underride guard. The latter includes pre-wired rear, license plate, and marker lamps as well as reflectors, a 7-pin socket, and the distribution box. All of those components meet the high quality requirements of the agricultural industry: For example, the company exclusively uses high-quality lamps from Hella; furthermore, the underride guard is zinc- and powder-coated and serves as a solid fender.
