There is finally help and support for the hundreds of thousands of Maryland/DC area families, and millions of families across the country, who have been displaced by foreclosure. Conversations About Life After Foreclosure are open forums throughout the month of July to give these families the opportunity to share their experiences, support each other, and learn what other families are doing to move forward. The Conversations finally give foreclosed families a voice.
On Monday, June 20, 2009, at 6 p.m. Maryland and DC area families who have moved following foreclosure can participate in a confidential Conversation About Life After Foreclosure at the Anne Arundel County Library, located at 3501 Russett Common in Laurel, MD. The Conversation is free, open to public, and refreshments will be served. Seating is limited and pre-registration is strongly encouraged at www.PostForeclosureHelp.org.
Nationally, foreclosed families can participate in Conversations About Life After Foreclosure either by telephone or by submitting their thoughts and comments in an online survey. To preregister for the Laurel, MD event and to access information about the telephone Conversations and the post foreclosure survey, log on to www.PostForeclosureHelp.org.
Maryland is 17th in state foreclosure rankings, with approximately 1 in every 655 homes receiving a “notice of default”. Nationally, the Center for Responsible Lending estimates 2.4 million new foreclosures in 2009, and that 8.1 million families will lose their home to foreclosure between 2009 and 2012.
Partnership for Positive Change, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2003 to help families with various aspects of financial literacy and money management.
