In the first full week of the newly installed CARS program, or Car Allowance Rebate System, the Korean automotive manufacturer has noted that 7% of the vehicles they have sold have been purchased by consumers with the help of the CARS act. Preston Hyundai serving the Delaware and Maryland areas has noticed the increase in sales under the program under the CARS act.
Hyundai has announced that the most popular model purchased under the new CARS act was the new Elantra, responsible for 41% of the CARS act sales. This brings Maryland dealer Preston Hyundai into a great advantage as they have over 130 brand new Elantras in stock, all of which qualify for the program.
John Skalstad, General Manager of Preston Hyundai, announced, “We had planned ahead as soon as we heard that the CARS act was a possibility. We wanted to have plenty of fuel efficient models to choose from so we made sure we had a wide range of Elantras ready for our loyal customers.”
Some of the trade-ins have been models from the industry’s top manufacturers like Ford and Dodge however; some of the brands traded have been luxury names such as Lexus, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz.
Hyundai offers thirteen model/engine combinations that qualify for the program, these models include; the Accent, Elantra, Elantra Touring, Entourage, Sonata 2.4L, Sonata 3.3L, Genesis Coupe 2.0L, Tiburon 2.0L, Tucson2.0L, Tucson 2.7L, SanteFe 2.7L, SanteFe 3.3L and the Veracruz. Hyundai expects that with the program sales will increase overall retail sales by 10%.
