Albuquerque, NM: Atención all pups and perros! Camp Bow Wow Albuquerque is the best place to play this side of the Rio Grande! Now puppy parents can run errands, head to work, or fly-off for a week out of town secure in their knowledge that their best fur-footed compañeros will be well cared for at the country’s premier doggy day and overnight camp. It’s all about the dogs at the upscale Camp, 3228 Los Arboles NE, where all campers enjoy fun-filled days of play, private cabins and lots of personal attention.

All campers are required to participate in a free interview day before they can attend Camp on a regular basis. “The interview day is designed to give the staff an opportunity to get to know prospective campers on a first name basis, to observe his or her temperament and how well they interact with other dogs,“ said Erin Daniels, the Camp director. “At Camp Bow Wow the dogs spend their days socializing and playing in our play yards, think of spending the day at the dog park. We want to be sure all of our campers are comfortable in that environment.” Canine campers must be neutered or spayed if over six months old, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccinations, have had a Bordetella (canine cough) vaccination within the past 6 months and be in general good health.

A state-of-the-art, 6,650 square-foot domain for dogs, Camp Bow Wow Albuquerque has a welcoming environment designed with amenities dogs love. From play bridges to puppy pools and comfy spots to nap, Campers get plenty of exercise, play and human attention during their stay. Pups are assigned to one of the Camp’s three climate controlled indoor play areas according to their size and activity level, and can go between the indoor and outdoor areas at will. Tuckered out pups can retreat to the cozy Little Dog/Old Dog Lounge to rest. Outside the play areas have plenty of shade and special, bone-, and paw print-shaped puppy pools: perfect for cooling down on dog day afternoons. In the evening, overnight campers retreat to one of the Camp’s 49 spacious private cabins furnished with comfy cots and soft fleece blankets. Even the most pampered of pups will enjoy one of the Camps 2 luxury suites with dedicated Camper Cams®: The Bear Cave, designed for dogs to burrow in, or The Sky Suite, decorated with murals of canine aviators and hot-air balloonists. At bedtime, they’re lulled to sleep by classical music after enjoying a special Campfire treat.

Just inside the Camp lobby, you’ll find a retail shop area filled with the latest, must-have doggy accessories like leashes and collars, special baked treats and toys. Camp Bow Wow Albuquerque will also offer basic grooming services such as bathing, nail clipping and de-shedding.

Campers at Camp Bow Wow are supervised by a staff of Certified Camp Counselors® trained in pet CPR and first aid, dog behavior, safety and health management. To ensure the happiness and safety of all campers, the Camp will be staffed with 1 counselor for every 15 campers at all times. Proud puppy parents can look in on their campers by logging on to the Camp Bow Wow Albuquerque web site to watch the real-time Camp activities broadcast by one of the many Camper Cams® installed around the Camp.

Doreen Valentine-Martin and Kevin Martin are the new top dogs at Camp Bow Wow Albuquerque. The couple opened Camp Bow Wow Pittsburgh South, PA, in 2007 after reading an article about the company founder Heidi Ganahl. In just two years they’ve built it into one of the highest producing Camp Bow Wow’s in the country and decided to expand by purchasing the Albuquerque and Scottsdale, AZ, Camp Bow Wow franchises. About being a Camp Bow Wow owner, Valentine-Martin says, “I love waking up and going to work every day.”

Camp Bow Wow Albuquerque is working with local animal protection and rescue groups to foster dogs for adoption.
