GoScan® today announced that MFLS (Motivational Fulfillment & Logistics Services) has successfully implemented GoScan scanning software to process thousands of shipping documents received daily.
“If you've ever bought something you saw on a TV infomercial, MFLS probably shipped your product,” said Paul Smietan, GoScan CTO. “MFLS receives thousands of ‘bill of lading’ documents every day which need to be transformed from paper into correctly named PDF files for their online reporting system and Microsoft SharePoint. MFLS needed something better than just a flatbed scanner and manual key entry. GoScan has been successful in making this happen quickly and accurately so employees and customers have real-time tracking information about shipments.”
MFLS ships thousands of packages every day and operates more than 1 million square feet of warehouse space for direct response and 4PL retail logistics distribution in Chino, Calif.
“Just one copy of GoScan paid for itself in two months and will save MFLS more than $20,000 per year,” said Cheryl Nataren, vice president of MFLS. “It also reduced our overtime costs by enabling staff to process all of the forms during normal business hours.”
For MFLS executives, GoScan was affordable and easily interfaced with their existing systems. For MFLS employees, GoScan provided an ultra-simple interface which they could use without training. GoScan automatically reads the barcodes, names the resulting PDF files based on the barcode value and deposits the named files into a network directory which can be accessed by the online tracking system. Once the user presses the green scan button, the rest of the process is automatic.
“GoScan was up and working in a single day,” Nataren said. “Now thousands of ‘bill of lading’ documents can be scanned, indexed and uploaded in a few short hours. This provides employees and customers near real-time information on their shipping transactions.”
