In my previous article, I urged everyone to get on this band's "bandwagon". I did and caught these guys opening for a Pearl Jam cover band at Tammany Hall in Worcester Massachusetts.
The Blade was the opening band, thank god. What can I say. I like Pearl Jam. Tribute bands are just not my style. Give me 5 musicians, lead sheets from a particular band, 12 weeks of rehearsal and POOF you have a tribute band. OK. Back on point.
The Blade once again had killer set. Non-stop, original, Rock and Roll! Some of my favorites: "Live Fast, Die Young", "Sunset Rose", "No Control" and "Stronger".
I decided to walk around the club to watch them from different angles. Everyone, and I mean everyone in the club was rocking with them. The energy in Tammany was contagious. I could hear people commenting around me - "these guys rock", "who is this band? WOOOOOO!!! (they screamed in the direction of the stage)" "I want to take the singer home with me" etc... I just sat back and smiled telling myself once again it is just a matter of time before these guys hit the big time. I love it when I am right...I just feel it will happen with these guys.
I caught up with Geoff, lead guitarist of the band, after the show to get some inside scoop. Looks like they are currently in the recording studio laying down tracks for their new LP. They enlisted the services of industry veteran Brian Silver at 9B Studios in Milford Massachusetts. "We are really excited about this new album", stated Geoff. "We haven't even mixed yet and there is just sweet magic happening on the recording."
Switchblade plans to release their new LP this fall. To be continued.
