HomeAid teams up with Movers.com

July 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Long before the current economic downturn, Vidyadhar Garapati (GV), CEO of Movers.com, witnessed the brunt of economic turmoil on the American dream. He remembers one particularly heart wrenching story when a Movers.com user called him after receiving free competitive online quotes from several local moving companies. In a distressed tone, she told GV that while she appreciated the free estimates, she still didn’t know how she was going to afford to move. At that moment, GV knew it was time to give back to the community to help others in similarly difficult situations, and he knew that HomeAid, a leading national non-profit provider of housing for the homeless, was just the place to turn to.

We have always thought about ways to give back to the community, and in helping over 800,000 customers, we’ve come across many heartbreaking stories of people who cannot afford to move. We know how much it costs to relocate, and we want to use this initiative to help others.”

Movers.com will donate $1 to HomeAid America for every user who requests free moving quotes through its partner websites. The donations will be made in the name of the partner companies and will benefit HomeAid efforts in the user’s local or regional area.
