PRLog - Jul. 10, 2009 - Detroit, MI – Once homeless, Versandra Kennebrew knows the value of non-profit support agencies like Detroit’s Coalition On Temporary Shelter (COTS).  It was COTS that gave her a fresh start in transitional housing after she lost everything.  Grateful for the assistance, she wrote "Thank God for the Shelter - Memoirs of a homelessness healer."

Proceeds from the local release of this book have been donated to COTS, and now Kennebrew is taking her book to the National Conference on Ending Homelessness, presented by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, www.endhomelessness.org at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel, 999 Ninth Street, NW Washington, DC July 29 - 31 from 9am - 6pm.

Her objective, says Kennebrew is “To inspire those experiencing homelessness to never give up and to share valuable self-enrichment exercises and affirmations that assisted me in my journey from the shelter to self-sufficiency.”  Kennebrew wants to make "Thank God for the Shelter" a resource to be used in every shelter across the country.

Book reviews:

"Thank God for the Shelter touched, moved and inspired me. Your experiences have made me even more grateful for my health, strength and shelter."
Kimberly Hayes Taylor, Health Writer, The Detroit News

“We all experience in our lives a need for a "safe place" where we can learn, grow, and discover our life's purpose.  The soul-searching techniques provided in this book will help every reader find strength, courage and hope.”
   Reene' Ferguson , Television Producer

“Sometimes, our darkest moments become our greatest blessing. Versandra has written a book that shows us how to turn our despair into joy one positive affirmation at a time.”
