Born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City, Hectors Rivera artistic and emotional links to his Latin roots are intertwined with the influence of North American art and culture.
“I was always an artist, as a child I used to draw cartoons from the back of cereal boxes and after moving to New York I found myself with an abundant source of material and inspiration which included graffiti on the walls of the subway trains in NYC”.
Currently Settle in Florida and after a short brake, Hector pick up his brushes and began painting again. His first break in Florida was in a local business, “Muse The Salon” where he was able to begin introducing himself locally, from there other galleries and exhibitions follow, including one at the renown University of Tampa.
Nowadays Hector combines his many styles from all different times and backgrounds, his work has been shown throughout New York and Florida, still close to his Puerto Rican roots, Hector hopes to one day exhibit his work in his Native Puerto Rico.
From cereal boxes, to graphite walls, from Muses at a hair salon to scholars at a nationally recognized university, Hector has proven than an artist canvas is the world. His name continues to grow and his art continues to inspire.
