New book about Portland, Dorset

July 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Author Gary Biltcliffe has been studying Portland for the last 10 years and has made some ground-breaking discoveries in his exciting new book The Spirit of Portland. Although the island is renowned for its stone quarrying and naval heritage, the author has uncovered a fascinating past. Was it a major centre of the Druids? A staggering number of stone circles, standing stones and burial mounds are testament to Portland’s importance and strategic position throughout history.
