July and August are traditionally the low season of the Yangtze cruise for Western market, it is a good time to grab a great deal.
The itinerary:
Day 01. Shanghai - Yi Chang - Cruise
Take our afternoon flight to Yi Chang. We then embark on a Yangtze cruise for a four-night cruise up the Yangtze River. Most ships have a lounge, restaurant, sauna, sun deck, bar, massage room and beauty salon. An Internet bar will keep you in touch with the world around you. You will visit the ancient temples enroute and witness the stunning scenery and gorges that line the Yangtze‘s banks.
Day 02. On board Cruise (B/L/D)
This morning we depart Yi Chang for a tour of the 3 Gorges Dam site. The 3 Gorges construction project is the biggest of its kind and the dam is the largest in the world. After lunch we cruise through the first and longest of the 3 Gorges, Xiling. This evening is at leisure as we settle into life on the Yangtze River.
Day 03. On board Cruise (B/L/D)
Today we pass through two of the most spectacular gorges on the Yangtze. First is the Wu Gorge, we then transfer to a local boat and cruise the crystal clear waters of the Lesser Gorges. See historic sites such as the 2000-year-old hanging coffins of the Ba people and an ancient plank road carved into the side of the cliff. You'll dock along the river's banks for lunch as you take in some of the river's most scenic landscapes. Once back on board we pass through Qutang, the last of the 3 Gorges.
Day 04. On board Cruise (B/L/D)
Our last full day on board we will have breakfast while we cruise and enjoy the scenic landscape of the mighty Yangtze River. Here, you will visit an underground labyrinth of streams and caverns with brilliant stalagmites.
Day 05. Chong Qing - Shanghai (B/L)
This morning we arrive in Chong Qing, a municipality that is situated at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jia Ling rivers and is the largest industrial center of South West China. The Mountain City is famous for its super spicy Sichuan Hotpot and its bicycle-free hilly streets. After lunch at a local restaurant we board our afternoon flight to Guilin, a city famous for its beautiful scenery.
