July 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Launching a new business venture often involves putting a lot on the line, as Hampshire director Mark Roberts knows only too well.

Demonstrating his faith in his latest acquisition of two Maeda mini crawler cranes he hoisted his prized classic sports car into the air outside his premises in Waterlooville.

The Gentry, a replica of a 1953 MGTF, was raised on a specially constructed lifting frame by a Maeda MC405CRM(E), one of the range of the Japanese manufactured machinery.

At the official launch of Cranes2U, representatives from a broad spectrum of industries and local authorities were invited to watch the manoeuvrability of the small footprint crawler cranes, which are heralded as leaders in their field.

Also present to offer technical expertise and help demonstrate the cranes on display was Alan Peck of Kranlyft UK, who brokered the deal.

Slim enough to fit through a standard double door, these compact cranes have a lift capacity of 3.8 tonnes and can carry out a range of specialist lifting functions, where access and space is restricted,  or where the use of a larger conventional crane has been ruled out on the grounds of cost.

Mark, who is also Managing Director of industrial engineering and heavy lifting specialists, FSR Maintenance, said: “ Our new initiative dovetails well with our existing business, and fills a void in the marketplace that has evolved through the style of modern architecture and demand unique solutions, as well as affordable hire costs and minimal disruption to work flow.

“As  a long-standing local business dedicated to providing a range of mobile engineering support services to  companies in the community for more than 40 years, it was a natural progression for us to move into the mini crawler crane industry.”

*In a final touch of irony, Mark who used to suffer from arachnophobia as a child, not only conquered his fear of spiders but is now planning to profit from the “creatures.”
