With a reputation for being one of the best International Schools in Europe and a motto that reads “The school where children come first”, St. John’s International School in Belgium is obviously very committed to ensuring students with disabilities are able to access and participate fully in school life. In order to support this commitment, the school had previously installed Read&Write 8 software on a computer in the High School Support Services Department. Recently St. John’s International School has chosen to upgrade this software to Read&Write 9 GOLD Mobile version.
Read&Write 9 GOLD is Texthelp’s literacy support software designed to assist students of all ages who require extra assistance when reading and writing. It offers support functionality frequently absent in mainstream MS Windows applications. The solution has been proven to raise attainment levels and increase access to the curriculum for all pupils.
The software works discreetly with all mainstream Windows applications (including MS Vista). This offers users with literacy difficulties the opportunity to work in an inclusive manner alongside their peers and colleagues.
Hilary Saugstrup, High School Support Services Coordinator at St John's International School commented “Read&Write 9 GOLD is easy to use, reliable and above all, mobile. For simple daily individual use, my students and I use the toolbar and screen reading function of Texthelp’s Read&Write software. My aim is to develop the use of the text-to-speech functionality in the software here in our High School, as well as start up a library of audio books. Thank you Texthelp, for your beneficial assistive software”.
