The first CE mark is for a new lower profile balloon on its 1.25mm and 1.5mm diameter PTCA catheters used for pre-dilatation of very tight or chronic total occlusions (CTO) in coronary arteries. A key characteristic of a PTCA catheter is its wrapped balloon profile which influences its ability to pass through challenging vessel anatomy and blockage. The new balloons offer one of the lowest profiles on the market for such a balloon and allow interventional cardiologists to achieve greater procedural success.
The second CE mark is for SYMTREK's 4.5 mm diameter extended size range. This larger balloon size is developed to allow the dilatation of blocked saphenous vein graft vessels.
These CE mark approval allows Symbiorph to offer one of the most high performance PTCA catheters and extensive size ranges available on the coronary market today.
Symbiorph Biomedical Corporation will begin selling SYMTREK PTCA balloon catheters throughout the member states of the European Union and countries where CE mark is accepted.
