Young Massachusetts Entrepreneur Has Thriving Environmentally Friendly Business
Wayland, MA – July 8, 2009 – Pure Mosquito Solutions LLC is taking the Metrowest community by storm. The new company founded by Brian Whittemore, a 20-year-old Wayland High School graduate in his third year at Northeastern University, offers a range of mosquito and tick control solutions for clients during the peak summer season. The company’s services include selling and maintaining mosquito magnets, and spraying properties with safe and organic repellent.
Whittemore is currently a junior at Northeastern University, a school known for its Co-op program where students have semester-long internships with registered businesses and corporations to gain valuable work experience. After registering Pure Mosquito Solutions LLC, Whittemore was given permission by the school to do his summer Co-op for academic credit with his business. Since its founding in 2005, Pure Mosquito Solutions LLC has taken on over 150 clients in the Metrowest area.
“We couldn't be more excited with our recent success,” said Whittemore. “Knowing the frustration and dangers that mosquitoes can cause, I am proud that we can provide Metrowest residents with a safe and environmentally friendly way to protect themselves.”
Mosquitoes are one of the leading causes of the spread of West Nile and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) viruses. These diseases affect numerous Massachusetts residents each year. From 2000 to 2008 there have been reported 60 human cases of West Nile in Massachusetts, and the state consistently ranks in the top four in the country of EEE cases.
