Artist John Palmer Will Return to Skopelos Island, Greece in September 2009

Abstract painter John Palmer will return to hone his monoprintmaking skills at the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts on Skopelos Island, Greece before returning to Houston, Texas to unveil the amazing new works at a black tie affair in October 2009.

July 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Skopelos, a Greek island in the Western Aegean Sea, is one of several islands that comprise the Northern Sporades Group.  Located there is the breathtakingly beautiful Skopelos Foundation for the Arts, the destination for artist John Palmer's 2009 annual work-abroad adventure!  Abstract painter John Palmer is no stranger to Skopelos Island after traveling and studying there in the summers of both 2005 and 2007.  In 2005, John Palmer studied under the instruction of California printmaker Linda Goodman.  In September 2007, John lead a group of loyal John Palmer Art enthusiasts around Greece before arriving in Skopelos where he then created for them on the island.  In 2009, Palmer will once again return and further hone his monoprinting skills!

Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has images or lines that cannot exactly be reproduced. There are many techniques of monoprinting, including collage, hand-painted additions, and a form of tracing by which thick ink is laid down on a table, paper is placed on top and is then drawn on, transferring the ink onto the paper. Monoprints can also be made by altering the type, color, and pressure of the ink used to create different prints. Examples of standard printmaking techniques which can be used to make monoprints include lithography, woodcut and etching.  The signature John Palmer monoprints combine inconic images, numerals, vibrant and muted colors and clean lines to create visually spectacular pieces that are perfect in either the chic home or corporate setting.

Artist John Palmer will then return to Houston, Texas in early October to prepare for the unveiling of his latest monoprint pieces from Greece at an October 17, 2009 black tie affair at the glamorous 1218 Heights Boulevard gallery and studio.  The "Toga Optional" Greek Party will also feature never-seen-before original John Palmer works on wood and canvas.  If you would like more information about artist John Palmer, the 1218 Heights Boulevard gallery and studio or the October 2009 Greek Party, please call the John Palmer studio at 713-861-6726 or visit http://www.JohnPalmerArt.com !
