Poets in the Bookshop with Rona Laycock

Rona Laycock headlines the Dylan Thomas Centre’s Poets in the Bookshop event on Thursday, 16 July at 7.30pm.

Rona Laycock’s poetry and autobiographical writing has been published in anthologies by Honno, Cinnamon Press and Ragged Raven Poetry and has appeared in magazines such as Mslexia, Magma, Orbis and Roundyhouse.

Her poem, ‘Recollection’, was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize last year and she has read her work at the Cheltenham Literature Festival as part of the Gloucestershire Writers Network events.

A CD of her work, Borderlands, has just been released. This recorded collection of poems is a compelling and intimate portrait of life lived amongst people and societies very different from our own. Years spent in Tunisia, Egypt and Pakistan have given Rona a unique perspective on communities and cultures - from historical events to everyday occurrences, from the grandiose to the mundane - all written with an eye for detail and clarity of thought and style.

The evening will also include an open mic session.
