The Indian Institute of Planning and Management Mumbai organized an All India Writing Competition titled Parables – stories that change lives on the 5th of December. Students across 250 Colleges participated in the event, which required budding writers to write a story on their chosen Social Cause. To felicitate the winners a Seminar on Creative Writing was organized at the Rang Sharda Auditorium on the 16th of December.
The All India Winners were Ms. Zainab Kakal – KC College Mumbai - 1st Place, Runner’s up –Ms. Saubhangini Singh – Women’s Christian College Chennai, and Ms. Joanne De Almedia – St Mira’s College Pune from the Undergraduate Section. In the Graduate and Post Graduate Section the winner was Ms. Sudha Sukumar – IIPM Hyderabad and the runners up were Janice D’souza NMIMS and Karishma Gupte KC College – Mumbai.
More than 250 Schools and Colleges participated in the event across India, Like Symboises, IIT, Bhartiya Vidya Peeth, St. Xaviers, Loyola Institute, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, St. Andrews, Lala Lajpat Rai etc.
The panelist for the seminar included renowned names like Gregory David Roberts - Shantaram Author,Tuhin Shah - A Thing Called Love - Author & Script writer Ruchi Narayan - Author Director Calcutta Mail, Director Movie Kal,Alpana Choudhary - Freelance Journalist contibuting to Verve, DNA, TOI also written biographies of Famous actors like Dev Anand And Madubala,Priti Nayar Chakravarthy - Lowe Lintas Head Creative Director,Sanjay Jog - Political Editor - Financial Times.
The seminar was a continuing effort to IIPM’S endeavor to spread the awareness of the written word and also highlight various Social Causes. The winning entries highlighted important issues like Peer Pressure, Child Abuse, Under Aged Children Working etc.

The Dean Mr. Shouvick Dutta said “We at IIPM continually persevere to initiate new activities like Parables to encourage talent amongst the young generation and also highlight various social causes during these activities to make the youth more aware of their responsibility towards shaping a better future for India”
