PRLog (Press Release) -
Jul 07, 2009 -
FACES (Friends And Caregivers, Encephalitis Survivors) represents a strong and dedicated group of people striving to share information and support, and to raise awareness on the topic of encephalitis.
Encephalitis is swelling (inflammation)
of the inner area of the brain. Damage done is permanent. Recovery from encephalitis is often professionally measured in a two-year time span, as neighboring areas of the brain struggle to re-learn skills and abilities which have been lost. Those who survive the illness may suffer permanent physical and mental disabilities, such as paralysis and memory loss. There are different types of encephalitis, including St. Louis Encephalitis, La Cross encephalitis, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, Western Equine Encephalitis, Rasmussen Encephalitis, Herpes Simplex Encephalitis - and most recently in North America, West Nile encephalitis.
The FACES Conference is offered by Encephalitis Global Inc., a USA 501(c)(3) public charity. This is the seventh annual FACES Conference, and the only conference of its kind in North America.
