LOUISVILLE, KY (July 7, 2009) – Flame Run contemporary art glass studio will celebrate its 5th anniversary by showcasing work from more than a dozen old friends and past exhibitors. The show opens July 31 and runs through Sept. 25. The gallery will host a reception on Aug. 7 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Since opening on July 2, 2004, Flame Run has brought in internationally known glass artists and helped establish Louisville as an oasis for contemporary glass artists. Jim Mongrain, Hiroshi Yamano, Stephanie Trenchard, Matt Cummings and Stephen Rolfe Powell were among a host of artists whose work was featured at the gallery.
“We have definitely developed a national presence for ourselves,” said owner Brook Forrest White Jr. “And we’ve been one of the big catalysts for national recognition for glass in Louisville.”
Flame Run also played a role in bringing the Glass Arts Society’s (GAS) annual conference to Louisville in June 2010.
“Flame Run was definitely part of the reason the Glass Arts Society chose Louisville,”
