Everyone has been talking about the new yoga website called MyFreeyoga.com. This yoga fitness site lets people involved in yoga or anyine over the age of sixteen join for free and become part of a yoga community where they can watch and share free yoga videos. The website was created by Christina Landry, a yoga instructor, who has been practicing and instructing yoga for over eleven years. Before the summer, MyFreeYoga.com had only a few pages, containing video pages, a biography, and a gallery. Now the site is a complete yoga fitness social network consisting of blogs - where users can write down their goals, questions, and knowledge about yoga, groups, forums, events - where users can post any meditation retreats or teacher trainings, chat rooms, and so much more. Christina adds new videos every week ranging from Vinyasa yoga to Hatha yoga. Members are also encouraged to upload their own yoga videos to the site. There are over ten categories users can upload their videos to. Some of those categories are: ashatanga, bikram, and Iyengar yoga practices.
One woman is running this entire yoga fitness network which is pretty impressive. Not only does Miss Landry shoot her own yoga videos, but she also monitors and optimizes the website. Since she turned the site into a social network her unique traffic has doubled within one month and is continuing to rise everyday. Social networks have had a huge impact on the web but now it seems the “niched” social networks are having their turn.
