Michigan’s beleaguered economy forces local tattoo studios to offer discount services. John Motyka owner of Discount Tattoos and Piercing has noticed an increase in business from budget conscious consumers. Whereas tattoos have sold for up to $1,000 a person can expect up to a 50% discount on elaborate custom artwork at Discount Tattoos and Piercings. Because of these recession offerings, the operation has seen increased traffic and is even expanding to several new locations. A grand opening will be held soon at the Southfield location and they will be opened at 14 and Mound in Warren by the end of July.
It is definitely a buyers market in terms of investing in body modification. Discount Tattoos located in Southfield and Centerline is charging less money for more work. Inevitably that is what works to keep people happy and returning.
Owner John Motyka notes “Choose your practitioner wisely. Do your due diligence and do not make any hasty decisions. Getting a tattoo has been known to be impulsive in nature. Slow down and take the time to build your project with someone you trust.” Tattoo Expert Motyka is a 17 year local veteran. He has promoted three tattoo conventions at Cobo Hall in years past and owned more than a dozen tattoo studios in the Metro Detroit area. John has given taped interviews for congress addressing tattooing. He is a member of the National Tattoo association and a member of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists as well as a certified Laser Specialists with certification in removing tattoos.
A 2006 study done by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between 18 and 50 are tattooed, and that 36% of Americans age 18 to 29 have at least one tattoo. Even in this economy, the tattooing and piercing industry is still growing with repeat clients and referrals.
There are not enough qualified tattooists to keep up with the continued growing demand for tattoos being done. Discount Tattoo and Piercings employs only the best of the industry professionals who also just happen to be the best value around. Now a person can have the best of both worlds from a tattoo studio: high level artistry and reasonable prices.
