Tempero publishes Child Protection Online Best Practice Guide in conjunction with Econsultancy

July 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Tempero, Europe’s largest Social Media Management Company, has published a Best Practice Guide on Child Protection in Social Media with Digital Marketing experts Econsultancy.

The guide is aimed towards brand owners or agencies which are on the whole self-regulated with regards to building or joining online communities where young people are.

“The explosion in user-generated content and social networking has led to young people spending the majority of their leisure time online and brands following them there to market to them,” said Dominic Sparkes, MD of Tempero. “But these brands and the agencies they use also need to take child safety online seriously.”

Chris Atkinson, Child Safety Consultant added “While procedures may seem time consuming, the obligations of community owners and those who use communities commercially will become unrecognisable if OFCOM or an equivalent UK governmental organisation is given the remit of regulating the online environment.”
