Charlotte, NC – Stewart Engineering, Inc. (Stewart) is pleased to announce that Steve Amos, PLS, CFS has been appointed by the Gaston County Board of Commissioners to the Parks and Recreation Commission. The Commission seeks to facilitate citizen input to the operation of the Parks and Recreation Department, the policies that impact service, among other activities. This position is a three year commitment.
Steve is currently President of the Mecklenburg Surveyors Association, and is also on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Society of Surveyors. Says company President Willy Stewart, PE, “Steve is once again demonstrating his commitment to his community and his profession. He exemplifies the company’s dedication to volunteerism and service.”
Stewart has completed design services for several greenways and many parks in the Charlotte region, and Steve has managed the surveying of some very recent recreation projects. But his interest in recreation is more personal. Raising his family in Gaston County, he feels strongly that Gaston County has the strongest potential for growth in the Charlotte region--parks and recreation are vital for the community’s quality of life in the future.
According to the Gaston County Commissioner Tracy Philbeck, “Steve's commitment to the community will be a great asset to the Parks and Recreation Commission and the citizens of Gaston County.”
Stewart currently employs over 100 people in offices throughout North Carolina—Charlotte, Raleigh, and a Wilmington field office. The firm’s clients include municipalities, architects, private developers, contractors, universities and community colleges, health care facilities, and departments of Transportation. Stewart is a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) with the State of North Carolina.
