July 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Abim Afolayan (aka Bimbo Roberts Folayan), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of  Global Technologies (GTI) UK Limited, has been awarded the prestigious Chartered I.T. Professional designation by the British Computer Society in recognition of his efforts and achievements within the field of Information Technology.

CITP status is the BCS's considered 'Gold Standard' and awarded to I.T. Professionals meeting and exceeding level 5 in the Skills for Information Age Framework. According to BCS, ‘CITP is an industry recognised display of excellence and innovative working - a testament to our commitment to our profession and the delivery of excellence to our customer base’.

Abim Afolayan has garnered all round experience in the private and public sectors both in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom. A graduate of the University of Ife, he later participated in a M.Sc. Conversion programme of the Greenwich University (UK) in Information Systems and Computing. ‘Bimbo is an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Software Engineer), is a CPS (Software Product Specialist), a Prince 2 Practitioner and holder of several other professional certifications. He currently works as an Independent IT specialist in the UK and Europe.
His IT consultancy in the UK has seen him participate in several Bank and Telecommunication merger projects across the UK and Europe.  ‘Bimbo’s clientele include IBM, Virgin Media, Telewest, Tescos, Sainsbury’s, Mark’s & Spencers, Royal Bank Of Scotland, Natwest Bank, Halifax Bank and Bank of England amongst several others. He is part of the team that have just completed the harmonisation and re-branding of NTL, Telewest, and Virgin (Virgin Media). He is the senior partner of ABN Limited and the CEO of Global Technologies (GTI) Limited all based in the UK.
Bimbo is presently the President of the Association of Nigerian IT Professionals (ANITP) in the UK and has just been nominated into the National Think Tank in Nigeria.  He is married with 3 children.
