Want to combine an incredible trip with the chance to help those in need?
The Nakuru Backpackers Hostel is the latest addition to the Kenyan hospitality scene. Located in the heart of the Rift Valley, and the center of Nakuru, the hostel is geared towards those who want comfortable accommodation without emptying their wallets.
For just 1,000 kshs per night the Nakuru Backpackers Hostel offers a comfortable bed, a hot shower, a cup of tea and a chance to relax.
But it also goes well beyond that. The hostel aims to combine quality budget travel with a chance to meet people and volunteer.
The hostel aims to attract visitors from all over the world, giving it a unique international flavour. However, ultimately, its greatest impact will be much closer to home.
The Nakuru Backpackers Hostel is a proud member of the Kenya Youth Hostels Association, an organization that promotes volunteering alongside travel. In this regard, the hostel aims to give travellers a chance to volunteer at some of the many NGOs located in and around Nakuru.
Volunteers can work with women who are living in extreme poverty. They can teach at a local school, pitch in at an orphanage, or lend a hand to the elderly.
The Nakuru Backpackers Hostel is based on the belief that volunteering is incredibly beneficial to both those who give thier time and those who are on the receiving end. The hostel is also in the process of setting up its own community project.
