While this past year has been dominated by super fruits, let’s not forget some of the life that came way before land botanicals…algae. Ecuadorian Rainforest is proud to present a complete line of algae including: arame, codium, dulse, gigartina, gracilaria, kelp, macrocystis, poephyra, salicornia, sea cucumber, ulva and undaria among others.
“Algae are a large and diverse group of simple, typically autotrophic organisms, ranging from unicellular to multicellular forms. The largest and most complex marine forms are called seaweeds. They are photosynthetic, like plants, and "simple" because they lack the many distinct organs found in land plants. For that reason they are currently excluded from being considered plants.” (Source: The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language)
These ancient organisms have the potential to offer an extraordinary range of health benefits. From AIDS to cancer, heart disease, immune support and detoxification, it is no wonder that the popularity of algae are increasing.
Rich in nutrients and some times offering 10 to 20 times more minerals and vitamins than any land vegetables it is only a matter of time before these super sea ingredients make their way into the cabinets of consumers.
