at Meridian!
Classical meets Hip-Hop in a genre-busting Club performance
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---On this Thursday, July 9th, 2009 Classical pianist Jade Simmons is reprising her collaboration with Hip-Hop beat maker extraordinaire Roburt Reynolds for an exciting concert at Meridian, one of Houston's hottest music night clubs. Simmons and Reynolds will be performing remixed pieces from her debut CD Revolutionary Rhythm as well as new material. Jade will premiere a juiced-up version of a piece called The Rhythm Express, dedicated to her by pianist/composer Kris Becker. As well, Jade and Rob will let loose in an exciting original piece based on Rachmaninoff's C#-Minor Prelude.
The versatile pianist spent last season playing 45+ concerts featuring music from the classics to the cutting edge. In June, she finished a 3 week stint as the first-ever webcast host for the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. On stage with Simmons, Roburt Reynolds lets his beats do the talking but as his musical alter-ego known as Room 101, he's been winning accolades including Houston Free Press' 2008 Best New Artist of the Year for his controversial punk/rock/metal one-man show.
Jade's debut CD Revolutionary Rhythm on the E1 record label (formerly Koch Records) was released March 24th, 2009. If her standing-room only CD release concert at Rockefeller Hall was any indication, concert-goers are highly recommended to buy tickets for this concert in advance at www.jademedia.org!
