NEW SMYRNA BEACH, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA  -- One possible sign of an economic recovery is on the horizon in Volusia County.
A New Smyrna Beach Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership, Your Little Cheaper Dealer, http://www.newsmyrnachrysler.com, located in Central Florida just south of Daytona Beach, is scraping the For Sale sign and getting ready to reopen in Volusia County.
“I would like to buy a new Dodge pickup, really,” said George Frassrand, a customer.
Dealership owner Jack Holcomb was forced to merge both Chevy and Chrysler dealerships under one roof in 2008.
Jack Holcomb never received a letter saying those car companies, GM, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, would drop his dealership, which he said gave him a new lease on life and a new attitude.
“I no longer have to worry about ‘Am I no longer a dealer?’ So that’s a plus,” Holcomb said.
The new attitude is pumping new life into New Smyrna Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, Your Little Cheaper Dealer, http://www.youtube.com/newsmyrnacjd,  and the customers are reacting. Sales are up 15 percent.
“We were coming in selling three cars a day. Now we’re coming in selling five or six,” Holcomb said.
Holcomb is doing so well that he's going to reopen the New Smyrna Chrysler , Jeep and Dodge dealership, http://www.newsmyrnachrysler.com,  he closed in December 2008.
The grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 1, with $1 million worth of inventory in both new and used vehicles.
Reopening New Smyrna Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, located in Central Florida just south of Daytona Beach, will provide jobs to 10 to 15 people right away, and 20 to 40 more if all goes well.
Holcomb is reinvesting in the community by hiring painters, laying down new floor and buying more computers from fellow business leaders, who said they're eager to thrive as well.
Holcomb said that glimmer of hope is light possibly at the end of the tunnel.
Holcomb said he first had to close his Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership, Your Little Cheaper Dealer, http://www.youtube.com/newsmyrancjd,  when banks stopped lending money.
Holcomb said it was like a jet without fuel, but now banks are lending again.
