Richmond, BC, Canada – Empower Technologies (TSX.V: EPT) is pleased to announce the delivery of the newly released high performance EMP3503 single board media computer to Jogtek Corp of Taiwan for testing, integration and demonstration. Jogtek is a developer and manufacturer of RFID products and technologies. Back in September 10, 2008 news release, Empower announced they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jogtek to partner and to develop Jogtek’s latest mass market RFID based Interactive Marketing System (IMS) for the retail and hospitality industry. Under the MOU, Empower had customized their latest EMP3503 and EMP3530 single board media computers and the embedded software to Jogtek to integrate into their new line of RFID based IMS product.
Jogtek’s Interactive Marketing System (IMS) is the merging of digital signage with an interactive kiosk. It is one of the most cost-effective ways to engage the shopper at the point of sale and, at a minimum, is useful for loyalty programs, product information and demonstrations. It is also the best automated sales assistant technology available to provide superb customer service when it is almost nonexistent or limited in a big box format store. It has the same positive effect on the customer as the ATM (Automated Teller Machine) in the bank. IMS is designed by Jogtek to be a powerful, cost-effective way for managing this interaction between the customer and the products in a store to enhance the customer experience and promote sell-through. IMS value starts when a customer interacts with a product by picking up the unit and immediately RFID readers trigger the display to play a product video with audio to provide relevant product information, comparisons, current promotions, and purchasing assistance, including recommended accessories if applicable. Infra-red proximity sensors when triggered will play a selective promotional or product video to entice the looker. With the sensor, the display can also play a generic marketing video continuously or turn off when it is not in use by a customer or when nobody is around.
With the first working EMP3503, Jogtek kicked off the sales and marketing of IMS system by demonstrating their new system at the Texas Instruments Tech Day in Taipei on June 30, 2009. Upon further agreement, Empower will license and supply EMP3503 and EMP3530 and its associated software including LEOs (Linux Embedded Operating System) and LEOs Media Player 1.0 (LMP1.0) to Jogtek to manufacture their new IMS line of products to ship to their customers later this year.
