Grand Master O'neal Release "LIONMAN" Novel At The 2009 Essence Music Festival

PR Log (Press Release) – Jul 03, 2009 – Grand Master O'Neal shall kick off his 20-city book tour releasing the new graphic novel The Legend of “LIONMAN” and the “ SEVEN KURODOS” in New Orleans, Louisiana at The 15th Annual Essence Music Festival, the largest event celebrating African American culture and music in the United States.  The Essence Music Festival, known locally as Essence Fest, is sponsored by Essence Magazinen the renowned voice of African American women for over [  ] years.  On Thursday, at the invitation of Essence, Grandmaster O'Neal and 300 chlidren from LIONMNAN clubs across New Orleans performed as part of the opening ceremony of the festival, the Youth Outreach Program.

The Legend of “LIONMAN” and the “SEVEN KURODOS” is the first in a series of graphic novels of an  African American Superhero who, along with a multicultural group of young superheros, performs heroic and moral deeds, both real and fictional that will inspire, delight, uplift, and educate millions of children and adults all over the world. The launch is the first release of Grand Master O'Neal's 28 novels in the Legend of LIONMAN series.  “LIONMAN” is the only African American superhero that features prominently education, academic achievement and self discipline and affirmation.

"LIONMAN" is the first superhero that joins forces with characters from different nationalities that both entertain and educate at the same time. Through the use of the comic book series, the website, the LIONMAN Clubs  and the mentoring program, "LIONMAN" can and will become a positive influence and a source of support and inspiration for children and youth around the world.

The primary goal of the tour is to get 20,000 children registered as members of The Lion Man Club at each destination by the conclusion of the tour.  Membership in the club is free. Upon joining, kids receive a membership card, a free “LIONMAN” and the “SEVEN KURODOS” t-shirt, they’re eligible for discounts from sponsors, subscription access to online interactive learning and entertainment programs and they receive advance notification of upcoming “LIONMAN” events and publications.

World Karate Champion who has dedicated his life to the education, discipline and self esteem of youth, at the two LIONMAN booths at the ESSENCE Marketplace & Art Expo July 3-5 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  In addition to signing autographs, attendees can purchase advanced copies of The Legend of LIONMAN and the SEVEN KURODOS for delivery in late July when the novel is formally released at Comicon in San Diego.
