FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 03, 2009 – The long wait is over for Facebook users with Android phones. Babbler is the first application developed to cover nearly all the features offered by the Facebook Platform, including direct video and photo uploads. Receiving just under 10'000 downloads during the BETA period, the app is now available on the Market as an ad-supported, free version or an ad-free purchase for the price of $1.49.

„The idea for Babbler came up from the need to replace m.facebook.com, the mobile web interface to Facebook, with a native Android application that is faster and better integrates with the rest of the system”, says Wojtek Kaliciński from Kalicinscy.com, developer of Babbler,”Unfortunately, what iPhone users have enjoyed for some time with the release of the official client, was not possible to implement on the Android platform until Facebook made the Open Stream API available to developers.”

Thanks to the Open Stream API, Babbler behaves just like any other application from the Facebook Application Directory and needs to be authorized before it can act on a user's behalf. This ensures that the account data and privacy are secure and that the application cannot be used for spamming.

Just like in the full Facebook site, the default screen that Babbler shows on launch is the Feed, which enables users to post, read, „like” and comment on updates and Wall posts. It also provides quick access to friends' profiles , albums, events and tagged photos. The „Friends” section shows all users' conections, additionaly providing information on whether his/her friends are online at the moment.

Perhaps the most important feature for people who like to update their profiles on the go is the photo and video upload capability that works in the background and integrates with the phone's Gallery application. Additionaly, users can share links from the Browser or Youtube app and follow links that others have posted in the Feed.

„Some features that were requested by users had to be left out, because there is no way to implement them under the current Facebook Terms & Conditions. But we're listening to any suggestions of our fans on the Application Page on Facebook and plan to release updates to Babbler often. In fact, we already have a few surprises coming for version 1.1, so stay tuned and... become a fan!”
