Complete Volumes Increasing but New Orders Cut down Largely in Chinese shipbuilding industry

From January to May, Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totally finished the export delivery values of RMB 96.8 billion, up by 25.8% YOY, but the growth rate down by 38.9 percentage points.

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 03, 2009 – www.shcri.com -- The shipbuilding manufacture finished RMB 80 billion, up by 35% YOY and the growth rate down by 23.8 percentage points; the ship support industry finished RMB 3 billion, up by 0.58% and the growth rate down by 59.1 percentage points; the ship repair and ship-breaking industry finished RMB 13.7 billion, down by 5.6% YOY and the growth rate decreased by 90.7 percentage points.
From January to May, there were totally 1,791 shipbuilding enterprises in China, which finished the total industrial output values of RMB 203.3 billion, up by 38.8% YOY and the growth rate down by 18.7 percentage points, in which the shipbuilding manufacture finished RMB 155.3 billion, up by 45% YOY and the growth rate down by 6.3 percentage points; the ship repair and ship-breaking industry finished RMB 25.8 billion, up by 8.7% YOY and the growth rate down by 57.3 percentage points.
The completion volumes continue to grow fast, but the new orders cut down in Chinese shipbuilding industry. From January to May, the total completion volumes reached 12.16 million deadweight tons, up by 61% YOY; the new orders were 1.18 million deadweight tons, down by 96% YOY; in which the new orders in May amounted to 190 thousand deadweight tons. The ship orders on hand were dropping continuously. By the end of May, the orders on hand were 192.28 million deadweight tons, down by 6% compared with that in the beginning of 2009.
