Hattiesburg, MS - The 41st Army Band of the Mississippi National Guard will entertain the lunch crowd during a three-day concert series at The Bottling Company
The Bottling Company is pleased to announce that the 41st Army Band, a division of the Mississippi National Guard, will be performing at The Bottling Company on July 8-10, Wednesday through Friday. The three-day performance will entertain the lunch crowd at The Bottling Company, from 11 am – 1 pm.
This performance will feature a variety of music for the entire family. The award-winning band consists of 40 musicians that compose a complete orchestra, which includes various ensembles such as jazz, rock, country, and western. The 41st Army Band, also known as The Governor’s Band, performs as a marching band, as well.
The 41st Army Band was awarded federal recognition as a permanent unit in the Mississippi Army National Guard in Oxford, MS, in 1962. In 1967, the band was transferred to Jackson, MS, where it remains today. They regularly perform at patriotic events and military ceremonies throughout the state of Mississippi, and even performed for the U.S. Ambassador to Morocco in Rabat, Meknes and Casablanca, Morocco in 1992, and the Ambassadors to Bolivia and Brazil in La Paz in 2000.
The 40 men and women who constitute the 41st Army Band are not only talented musicians, but dedicated soldiers and citizens, as well. For instance, the band was deployed to the Mississippi Gulf Coast during Hurricane Katrina from August 2005 until November 2005 with some members remaining on deployment though January 2006 to support the rebuilding and clean-up effort.
The 41st Army Band consistently performs as an ambassador for the state of Mississippi. Whether performing at home in Mississippi, across the United States or representing our country overseas, this award-winning group of musicians entertains audiences of all ages with lively and diverse musical presentations.
