Leaders Have To Be Great Companions

There is no one in the world that can always be by themselves all the time. It’s impossible. It is human nature to want to be around someone. That is where leaders come in. Steve Billue, a current public speaker for his company, believes that companionship is a very precious and expensive commodity because it can be bought with one thing, and that is time. The only thing is that time is so scarce for people. There is not enough time in the world, because time is something that we can never get back.

Leaders know that in order to have people follow them, they must give up time to spend with them. Leaders need to spend time with people, not just around them. When asked about this, Steve Billue noted:

“There is a huge difference. When you are just around people, you are not actually interacting with them. You are not showing them that you actually care about what they are doing. When you spend time with them, you are giving them a presence that is much welcomed. You are showing them interest. This allows them to feel attached to you, to trust you, and follow you knowing that you are there for them.”

The world we live in today wants leaders that are involved. If people expect to be leaders, no longer can they do things from a distance. Leaders have to be willing to be the center of attention. They have to get involved with the people around them. Leaders cannot hide behind doors anymore. If they do that, they will not be respected as an omega leader, omega being the top of the top.

“Leaders look for the people around them to be one in unison. When a leader gives time to spend with the people around them, they ultimately become a companion. As said before, a companion is what people have much desire for,” said Steve.  

How much quality time do you spend with the people around you? Are you with them or are you around them? Do you check on them to see how they are doing or do you talk to them only when you want something? Think about it.
