Take two needle nose pliers, and use one to grab the brass tip. Then, insert one end of the other pliers into the rubber boot on the back. Now pull the two pliers apart, however, be careful, because the silver part is plastic. I damaged the end slightly, so, if you care about appearance, wrap the tips in a bit of electrical tape.
Now, slide the plastic end down to expose the interior of the plug unit. Carefully slice the rubber boot, between the two wires, and on both sides Watch out for the magnet (ferrite) embedded in the boot.Do not worry if you break it, it serves to condition the line voltage, however, if you run it off clean HP PA-1900-18H2 AC Adapter, like a UPS, you shouldn’t be too worried about it.
Now separate the boot from the plug assembly. Cut a bit of insulation from the long cord, and separate the outer ground from the fiber insulation, and, then separate out the HP PA-1900-18H2 AC Adapter line. Then, cut the insulation with scissors.
