Jul 01, 2009 – Shanghai World Expo Tickets Have Been Sold to Individuals since July 1! Domestic buyers can purchase tickets at 2,796 outlets nationwide set up by the four authorized sales agents in China — China Mobile, China Telecom, the Bank of Communications and China Post, as well as through these sales agents' websites and hotlines. Between July 1 and December 31 tickets to the World Expo 2010 Shanghai will be available for the public to buy from China Travel Service (Hong Kong). Ticket sales to overseas customers will be initiated at the same time.
Blue tickets for the fair's opening and closing and special dates -- May 1 to 3, October 1 to 7 and 25 to 31 -- cost 200 yuan (about 29.4 U.S. dollars).
Yellow tickets for regular fair days cost 160 yuan (about 23.5 U.S. dollars).
According to Chenzhuo Fu, an official of the Shanghai World Expo, the tickets are plentiful. Buyers don't have to bring their ID cards to get the tickets and regardless of individuals and groups, purchasers need not worry about the buying. If one who books ticket in advance, s/he can get a favorable price. The official estimated that about 62 million tickets will be sold within this year.
Research shows that a total of 70 million people will visit Shanghai during the 184-day event and the daily number of visitors may reach 800,000.
